Choosing the Right Wall Art for Every Room: A Practical Guide

Choosing the Right Wall Art for Every Room: A Practical Guide

by Volkan Yıldırım

Wall art doesn’t work the same in every room. Bedroom art lives at low light and intimate scale. Kitchen art has to survive steam and grease without fading. Office art needs to support concentration, not distract from it. Here’s the room-by-room guide we wish came with every first apartment.

Living Room

The living room is where people see your taste. Statement art belongs here. We recommend one large piece over the sofa — either a Van Gogh-style impasto print like Lighthouse in Stormy Sea for drama, or a vintage travel poster like Yosemite for warmth.

Scale: roughly two-thirds the width of the sofa. Height: bottom of the frame 15–20 cm above the back of the sofa. Browse the full Living Room Wall Art collection.

Bedroom

The bedroom is intimate. Skip loud subjects. Go for softer palettes — painterly garden art, line-art skylines in deep navy or burgundy, mystical night scenes. The Wise Owl Starry Night over a bed is a perennial favourite. The burgundy Paris works for couples.

Scale: width of the headboard, hung 20–25 cm above. Browse the full Bedroom Wall Art collection.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen has its own constraints — steam, splashes, grease. Hang prints in framed glass (our wooden frame option is sealed with shatterproof plexiglass) and keep them away from the stove. Subject-wise, lean cocktail and food: the Cheers Champagne Toast or the Minimalist Wine Line Art above a small dining table.

Home Office

Office art has to support work, not steal attention. Avoid loud impasto; lean clean line art and modernist geometric. A single line-art skyline like New York over a desk works beautifully. Pair with one motivational quote print if you need a daily anchor.

Nursery & Kids’ Room

This is where storybook-style art finally has its moment. The Peter Pan London Starry Night over a crib has become one of our most-loved nursery prints. Pair it with a small painterly fox or owl for a cohesive bedtime-story vibe.

Reading Nook & Library

Literary prints, dark academia aesthetics, mystical night scenes. The Don Quixote behind a reading armchair is the textbook choice. Layer with a Van Gogh-style print and a typography quote.

Bathroom & Coastal Spaces

Stick to bright, water-friendly subjects. Lighthouse, sailboats, ocean scenes. Avoid paper prints in high-humidity bathrooms — choose the framed-glass option.

One rule for all rooms

Hang the centre of your art at standing eye level — roughly 145 cm from the floor. The single most common mistake is hanging art too high. Lower than you think is almost always right.
